Racing to a fundraising finish in Fife

NB: These photos of the event were taken in previous years

We were thrilled to receive the ongoing support of Graham Bennison, the Stark family, Fife Athletic Club and enthusiastic athletes from Fife before the latest lockdown.

Each year in winter, the special Bob Stark Memorial 5K Run is held around the village and estate of Falkland in Fife where Bob, a popular and dedicated member of Fife Athletic Club lived.

This unique run is dedicated to Bob’s memory, and over 160 runners usually take part. Instead, this season’s run, the Brian the Bear Run For Bob, was held, adapted to safely fit with restrictions.  It was held at Foodieash near Cupar instead, with a limit on participants.

We were delighted to receive the ongoing support of the organisers and athletes, who raised a fantastic £500 in aid of our work. You can read more about the race here.

Over £6,500 has been donated to Prostate Scotland from the Bob Stark Memorial Fund as the proceeds from the race over the last five years. Our thanks also go to the race marshals, officials, helpers, and the Hilton and Cairnie estates who gave permission for the use of their land.

Taking part in an organised running event

If you would like to race to a fundraising finish in aid of Prostate Scotland this year, please head to our Events pages.  Several popular running events such as the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, Men’s 10K Glasgow and Great Scottish Run are planned to take place later this year.  Some events have been adapted to exciting virtual challenges suitable for all abilities.  Please refer to each event for details.

The key requirement for all fundraising

…is that you must stay safe and follow up-to-date Scottish Government and NHS guidelines, on staying at home, staying safe and on social distancing.
