Our Prestonfield Burns Supper success – thank you again!
We’re absolutely delighted to share the great news of our fundraising success at Prestonfield’s Burns Supper. Thank you to our Prostate Scotland community for being such an important part of this special night. Together we raised a stunning £40,680.68!
Gathering at the stylish Prestonfield House in Edinburgh on 22 January, we were welcomed in by Prestonfield’s piper, and guests were thoroughly entertained from start to finish!
Our host and speakers delivered many standout moments
Broadcaster and actor Grant Stott, our Master of Ceremonies, enthusiastically hosted the event, delivering the Immortal Memory, tributes to our work, as well as many more standout moments in great Prestonfield Burns Supper tradition. Speaker Iain Findlay made a rousing Address to the Haggis, and comedian Craig Hill enchanted us with his Address to the Lassies, written in rhyming poetry! Diane Nicol Sibbald rounded off the speeches with a witty Reply on behalf of the Lassies. Talented musicians Brigid Mhairi and Richard Dunn captivated us with traditional Burns songs.
Our Fundraising Auctions and Prize Draw
Our Silent Online Auction raised £16,451. Its standout prizes were a round of golf for 3 with a member at the Loch Lomond Golf Course raising £1,500; and a collectors item of a pocket book of Burns Poems, which raised £320. Another great prize was a Porsche driving experience, raising £800.
Our Diamond Bracelet Prize Draw raised £9,540! This was generously supported by Hunters of Linlithgow and Ian Gallacher, Manufacturing Jeweller and Diamond Merchant. Both our Silent Auction and Diamond Bracelet Prize Draw were open to members of the public beforehand. We even received bids from supporters who were bidding online from home – thank you for supporting us from your sofa!
Grant was in fine fundraising form as the auctioneer of our Live Auction. Grant auctioned several brilliant prizes, one of which was a rare cask-strength Whisky Barrel donated by Falkirk Distillery raising £6,500. Our Live Auction, exclusive to our Prestonfield Burns Supper guests raised £14,500, which pushed our fundraising total to £40,680.68!
Prizes and hospitality experiences donated by Prestonfield raised £7,085, for which we are immensely grateful.
Thank you to everyone for your part in our success
To our many donors and supporters including individuals and businesses, for your superb continued generosity, thank you. Special thanks go to James Thomson, Gavin Hughes and Prestonfield; Grant, Iain, Craig, Diane, Brigid and Richard; TC Events Consultancy, Jumblebee, Holler PR, Hunters of Linlithgow and Igoe Up Ltd.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’ve raised substantial funds to expand initiatives such as our ToolBox Workshops in workplaces across Scotland. This year, donations can continue to fund this initiative and others such as our Living Well with Prostate Cancer courses and Prostate FFIT exercise programmes. We aim to build on these successes and continue making a difference in the lives of those affected by prostate cancer and disease.
Planning for our 21st anniversary Burns Supper is almost under way!
