Our Prestonfield Burns Supper success – thank you!

We’re thrilled to share news of our Prestonfield Burns Supper success – thank you to all who contributed!

Thank you for helping us raise the phenomenal sum of £63,752.48!

Our supporters gathered at the spectacular Prestonfield House in Edinburgh on 23 January. Guests were entertained from start to finish, firstly welcomed in by Prestonfield’s piper! Master of Ceremonies Jay Crawford steered us through a special night of Burns tradition. Our entertainment programme was packed full of speeches, stories, fine food and tributes to our supporters, many of whom were in the room.

Our Silent Online Auction, Luxury Pendant Prize Draw (both open to supporters beforehand), plus Live Auction on the night, raised  £40,680.68.

During the Burns Supper, our Founding Trustee Professor Alan McNeill paid tribute to our supporter Ken Macaulay. Ken was posthumously awarded our Chairman’s Award.

Ken, a former rugby player and coach, was awarded a retrospective international cap by the Scottish Rugby Union for a match he played in 1980. Motivated by this honour, he set himself the “Cap 1215 Challenge” to fundraise for 4 charities last October. He cycled over 1,000 miles to visit 76 rugby clubs across Scotland where he played during his 30-season career. Ken raised £23,071.80 by the end of January for four charities, including Prostate Scotland – a phenomenal achievement. Ken and team at Murrayfield

The team from Muirhall Energy were in the room when they heard Ken’s fundraising story. Ken’s achievement inspired them to generously fund match the sum of £23,071.80. A very, very big thank you, Muirhall Energy.

Our heartfelt thanks to all our Burns Supper supporters, guests, donors and Prestonfield for your amazing generosity. You’re an important part of our community and it’s fantastic to celebrate our achievements together.
