Bobby’s Lands End to John O’Groats virtual fitness challenge

Bobby’s Lands End to John O’Groats virtual fitness challenge

is the fundraising activity started in mid February by our supporter Bobby Jess.  Bobby is running and walking a virtual route from Land’s End to John O’Groats in aid of Prostate Scotland.  Provincial Grand Master of Dumfriesshire and member of the Grand Lodge of Scotland, he will cover the 1084 miles distance on his regular runs around his local area.

Said Bobby “this year, my challenge is very much in my own hands (or legs!).  I’ve been keeping fit during lockdown by going out for regular runs, not fast I might add as I hit 60 last year, and thought “why not try to raise funds at the same time?”

I registered for the “LEJOG virtual fitness challenge” which provides an app to track your progress along the 1084 mile route.  I started the challenge on Saturday 13th Feb with a target to complete it within 182 days and passed the 100 mile marker today, so I’m well ahead of the race pace already.”

Bobby has got off to a fantastic start, having already raised £1,130 to date.  We’re thrilled to receive his support, and thank you to everyone who has supported him.  If you’d like to read more about his challenge, then head to his fundraising page here.

Virtual running challenges

A virtual running challenge is a great way to keep your running routine going if you have taken up running recently, or if you are a keen runner and missed your usual races this year.  Please stay safe – exercise activities undertaken should follow the current Scottish Government COVID 19 advice on staying safe and on exercise and social distancing.
