If you have cancer just within the prostate gland which has not gone outside the capsule of the prostate or spread to the bones, known as organ confined disease, you will have a range of options depending on the development of the cancer. These include radiotherapy (of which there two kinds - external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy, which uses high energy waves to try to treat the cancer), radical prostatectomy, involving the surgical removal of the prostate, as well as active monitoring.
