What can go wrong with it?

Different kinds of prostate problems can cause the prostate to be enlarged or inflamed. The result of this is that passing water can become difficult and can cause problems with your general health and affect your quality of life. The symptoms of prostate disease are called lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).

There are a number of problems or diseases which can affect the prostate including prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and, in some men (particularly older men), prostate cancer.  For further information about these diseases and treatments please click on the links which will take you to the pages explaining them.

Symptoms of prostate problems or disease can include incomplete emptying of the bladder, difficulty passing urine, dribbling urine, having a weak stream and finding that you have to get up frequently at night to urinate.
