Inverness & Highlands

Raigmore Hospital in Inverness is the main treatment centre in the Highlands for prostate diseases. There are 2 surgeons performing open radical prostatectomies. There are also four consultants performing trans urethral resection of the prostate. Transrectal ultrasound and biopsy is also available and this is mainly delivered by a specialist urological nurse service. Radical external beam radiotherapy is also carried out. Brachytherapy is referred to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh or the Beatson Cancer Centre in Glasgow.

Visiting urology clinics are held at Caithness General Hospital in Wick and the Belfort Hospital in Fort William and a service is provided for NHS Western Isles including a clinic at the Western Isles Hospital in Stornaway on the Isle of Lewis.
